New Moravian Workbench Class for 2023

For the past decade I have taught the Moravian workbench class at the Woodwright’s School in Pittsboro NC. For the classes there I had been supplying and prepping the materials we used in the class; a pretty big job to be honest. I have been contacted by other woodworking schools over the years about teaching at their places and my answer was always “sure” if you would supply the materials. After sending a cut list I wouldn’t hear back from them.

A few months ago I was contacted by Andy Glenn from The Woodworking School at Pine Croft in Berea Kentucky (formerly Kelly Mehler School of Woodworking). I sent him the cut list and info. A few days later he replied “let’s do it”.

The class date is June 26-30, 2023. You can view the description here.

On a side note: I will not be doing the workbench class at Roy’s this year. I will be doing several other classes there in 2023, will post them here when the schedule is complete!

  1. Will, Using your video and and cut sheets I built the Moravian bench for the small theater group that I work with. It was perfect for our use. I could assemble it alone in 5 minutes and then use it to build props and sets, and disassemble it in 5 minutes and slide it under the stage, out of the way (not a lot of extra space backstage). I highly recommend this project for anyone who might need a bench that can be broken down and stored or transported easily. It would be great for anyone who wants to have access to a sturdy bench at a remote worksite, or who only has room for a bench at home when s/he is building. It is not a hard project, nor expensive. And it is very gratifying. Thanks, Joe

  2. Hi Will

I am really going to miss the WoodWright school. Building the Moravian bench there and learning from you and Roy is some of my favorite experiences in woodworking. I hope to take some classes next year. The candle stand is on my bucket list. I’ll watch closely for the class schedule.
