The new Lake Erie Toolworks 2X wooden vise screw is mounted and operational in the test bench. I have been using it a few days, here are some of my first impressions.

Very Fast! 1″ of travel per revolution. It has been a little awkward for me using the 2X; moving a twice the speed of the regular screw takes some getting used to.
The holding power seems to be just as good as the single thread screws from LET despite the increased speed.
The threaded portion of the 2X requires 3 1/8″ mounting holes as opposed to the 2 5/8″ of the regular screw. This might be a consideration on some benches. On a Moravian bench, it only requires moving the vise 1/4″ farther to the right than usual.
I purchased my first vise screw from Lake Erie in 2011 and a second in 2012. Both have been in constant use since with no problems whatsoever. Lake Erie has also supplied all the screws for the Moravian workbench classes I have taught since 2013, (around 130 kits) they have all been wonderful. Nick’s level of quality and precision on these things has as always been a sight to behold.

Thank you for the update sir!

Curious about the block in behind the vise seen in the first picture, is this additional support for the bench top or part the dog? This also appears to be a newer bench, are you using a different wood for the legs/base?

The block houses a planing an iron planing stop as the original bench had. The legs / long stretchers are slow grown yellow pine, short stretchers are oak.
